Tray Blazer FAQ

Questions about Kitchen Releases

How releases work for guests, restaurants and Food Ambassadors—and who is responsible at each stage.

About Tray Blazer and Kitchen Releases

The essential ideas behind the platform.

What is Tray Blazer?

Tray Blazer is a publishing and editorial platform for restaurant-led Kitchen Releases. It helps restaurants develop and publish limited culinary offers, work with approved collaborators, manage bookings and build a public record of their culinary direction.

What is a Kitchen Release?

A Kitchen Release is a restaurant-led culinary offer available for a defined date or period and in limited quantity. It gives the kitchen an occasion to explore an idea that may not belong on the permanent menu and invite the guests most likely to care.

Is Tray Blazer an events directory?

No. Tray Blazer does not begin with a global list of unrelated events. Visitors explore releases through the restaurants and culinary voices they choose to follow. Previous releases can also remain visible as part of a restaurant’s public culinary journey.

Who provides the food and hospitality?

The restaurant is the hospitality provider and legal supplier for every Kitchen Release. It is responsible for the food, drink, premises, service, pricing, food safety, allergens and delivery of the offer. Tray Blazer supports publishing, collaboration, booking and payment facilitation but does not operate the restaurant or supply the hospitality.

For guests

Following kitchens, booking releases and attending safely.

How do I find Kitchen Releases?

Start with a restaurant or culinary voice you already know. Follow its public profile to see current releases and receive future invitations. You can create a free account to follow kitchens and manage your bookings.

What is the difference between a ticketed and an external-booking release?

A ticketed release is booked and paid for through Tray Blazer. An external-booking release sends you to the restaurant’s chosen booking provider, where that provider’s payment, cancellation and privacy terms apply. The release page should make the booking route clear before you continue.

Can I cancel, transfer or resell my booking?

Bookings are normally non-cancellable and non-refundable when a guest changes their mind or cannot attend. A restaurant-only release may state a more flexible policy before purchase.

You may transfer an eligible booking to another person, subject to the release conditions and reasonable restaurant requirements. A booking must not be resold for more than the original total price paid. If the restaurant cancels or materially changes the release, the remedies required by law apply.

What should I do if I have an allergy or dietary requirement?

Contact the restaurant before booking and again before consuming any food. The restaurant is responsible for legally required allergen information and for food safety. Unless the restaurant expressly confirms otherwise, neither Tray Blazer nor a Food Ambassador can guarantee that a dish or kitchen is free from an allergen or cross-contamination risk.

Why can I still see a previous release?

Restaurants can keep selected previous releases visible as part of their public culinary journey. These pages show what the kitchen has explored over time; they do not mean that the release is still available to book.

For restaurants

Preparing, publishing and managing releases.

Can I prepare a release before paying for membership?

Yes. A restaurant can create a professional workspace, develop release briefs and save drafts without a paid membership. A publishing membership is required only when the restaurant is ready to publish.

Which membership do I need?

Publish is for ticketed Kitchen Releases. Editorial adds non-ticketed releases and external booking links, so the restaurant can use a booking system that already works for it. Enterprise adds guided implementation, training and editorial support. See the current features and prices on the Memberships page.

When is Stripe Connect required?

An eligible Stripe Connect account is required when a restaurant publishes a ticketed release and receives ticket payouts. It is not required to prepare briefs and drafts. An Editorial member can publish a non-ticketed release using an external booking link without first connecting a payout account.

What does capacity mean?

Capacity is the finite number of bookings or items the restaurant can responsibly provide for a ticketed release. It should reflect what the kitchen and front-of-house team can prepare and serve during the chosen booking window. Capacity is set for each ticket type.

Can a restaurant publish with a Food Ambassador?

Yes, with an approved collaboration. The restaurant and Food Ambassador review the release and agree the Ambassador’s share before publication. The restaurant remains in control of the food, hospitality and operational details. Material changes may require renewed approval.

Must every previous release remain on the public profile?

No. When publishing, the restaurant can decide whether an eligible release remains visible as part of its public culinary journey. This choice does not cancel the release, alter confirmed bookings or remove the operational and transaction records needed to administer it.

What happens if I change or cancel membership?

You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel through My Account. Paid publishing access ends according to the subscription terms, but the professional workspace, release briefs and drafts remain available. Your work is not deleted simply because paid publishing access ends.

For Food Ambassadors

Contributing a perspective without becoming the hospitality supplier.

What is a Food Ambassador?

A Food Ambassador is an independent professional who contributes a perspective, audience insight or editorial direction to a Kitchen Release developed with a restaurant. The contribution may begin with a product, place, cuisine, question or point of view that gives the release its reason to exist.

Does a Food Ambassador need a publishing membership?

No. Food Ambassadors do not require a publishing membership. They need an approved restaurant collaboration and an eligible Stripe Connect account when receiving a share from a ticketed release.

How is the Food Ambassador’s share decided?

The restaurant and Food Ambassador agree the share separately for each collaborative release through the shared workspace. A proposed percentage is not final until it has been accepted as part of the collaboration process.

Does a Food Ambassador become the food or hospitality supplier?

No. The restaurant remains the legal supplier and is responsible for the kitchen, food, drink, premises and hospitality. A Food Ambassador must not make independent promises about food safety, allergens, licensing, service or availability without the restaurant’s confirmation.
